Crypto Policy: From CSAM to eIDAS

The desire of governments to control cryptographic technologies and the growing deployment of cryptography has resulted in a series of crypto wars focusing on key escrow, access to encrypted devices and client-side scanning. Recently a new battleground was opened with the eIDAS 2.0 regulation, that presents challenges to the webPKI. It also introduces a European digital identity wallet that creates the risk for large-scale user tracking.
